Informative and transformative。 I have bought this book for several of my homegirls， and continue to reread stories myself。 Each time I read a new parable， I learn something new about myself and the way I see the world。 I highly recommend this book！

I didn't hate it but this took me ages （years） to get through which is really unusual。 I think you need to be in a certain frame of mind for it and to be honest I was put off a bit by the almost cult-like following around this book and insistence that if you don't like it or agree with everything stated that is some sort of personality defect。 The myths and stories and connections drawn are at times fascinating and at other times a bit too preachy。 Overall I think it's worth reading， I just don' I didn't hate it but this took me ages （years） to get through which is really unusual。 I think you need to be in a certain frame of mind for it and to be honest I was put off a bit by the almost cult-like following around this book and insistence that if you don't like it or agree with everything stated that is some sort of personality defect。 The myths and stories and connections drawn are at times fascinating and at other times a bit too preachy。 Overall I think it's worth reading， I just don't think it's worth basing your entire world view on。 。。。more

I když by mě nenapadlo， že mě tahle kniha zasáhne nějak víc， byla mi velmi blízká， nutila mě přemýšlet a koukat na spoustu vjemů z jiných uhlů pohledu。 Zároveň mě bavily staré příběhy， v kterých jsem viděla hodně novodobých interpretací， a jejich vysvětlení do nejmenších detailů。 Kniha mi ale připadá spíše na pomalejší čtení， po kouskách， aby čtenář dokázal témata zpracovat a nezhltl to jako malinu。 Co mě ale mrzelo， je docela dost chyb， které občas byly trnem v oku。

Took me seven years to read this book， but it was completely worth it for its beautiful and sweet medicine。 And， as Estés points out， seven years is a magical， meaningful period of time in stories， so it feels sort of apt。 I loved this book and will keep it with me。

I am so glad my therapist recommended this book！ It is definitely eye opening。 Not every story was relevant to my experience， but there were several that really made me think about how I view myself and the powers that shaped how I view myself。 It is encouraging and empowering。
